Elon Musk recently revealed he has appointed a new head of Twitter, or X Corp, as it’s now known. He didn’t reveal the name, but stated that she will begin her role in about six weeks. The Tesla CEO, who bought the social media platform last fall, has repeatedly emphasised he is not permanently in charge. He declared his role will transition to executive chairman and chief technology officer of Twitter. For the past six months, he has been looking for a new CEO for the San Francisco-based company.
In mid-November, shortly after purchasing Twitter for $44 billion, he told a Delaware court he wasn’t interested in running any business. During his testimony, he said: “I expect to reduce my time at Twitter and find somebody else to run Twitter over time.”
In December, he tweeted: “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job.” This was in response to a poll he created on the platform, in which millions of users asked him to step down. By February, he had declared he should find a CEO for Twitter “probably toward the end of this year.”
It appears he has kept his promise, as he’s now found a new chief executive for Twitter. We can expect her to begin her role in about six weeks.
