Foxit has been rapidly expanding its engineering team in Dublin and is set to open two offices in the near future – one on Ormond Quay and another European hub off Stephen’s Green. The company has been in the Irish capital for a few years, first beginning its operations remotely before opening an office in Fairview.
David Martin-Sullivan, Foxit’s regional enterprise sales team manager for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics, mentioned that they are actively hiring to expand their sales teams and other departments to meet the demands of the marketplace without giving an exact number. Foxit’s CMO, Frank Kettenstock, shared that they want to hire “very intelligently, very deliberately, with a long-term view”, to avoid the same mistakes of Big Tech.
Martin-Sullivan is positive about the growth of the Dublin office. As well as the new European hub, Foxit’s engineering division is growing rapidly, having hired over 40 engineers in the last 14 months, with 25% of them based in Ireland, either in the office or remotely.
The reasons for Foxit moving to Ireland include the vibrant city, the geopolitical stability, and the access to a well-skilled talent pool. This is further backed up by Martin-Sullivan’s Cork-roots, as well as the help of government agencies like the IDA in making the set-up and expansion in Ireland frictionless.
The team in Ireland may be small compared to other tech companies in the area, but they have an office mascot – Paul the dog – and there are nine different nationalities in the team. Every Tuesday, the team meets up in the Dublin office to share food and celebrate their diversity.
