This Easter Bank Holiday Weekend, Dublin Airport is expecting a huge influx of travelers, with 485,000 people coming through the doors over the five-day period. Of this number, 248,000 will be departing from the airport, while 23,000 will be arriving. The peak day is expected to be Easter Monday, when 103,000 passengers will be in transit.
For those taking off from Dublin, it is advised to arrive at their terminal two hours in advance for a short-haul flight, or three hours if it is a long-haul flight. Additionally, travelers should also double check which terminal their flight is departing from. With the demand for car parking being particularly high over the Easter period, it is recommended to book online in advance and to consider alternative means of transport such as buses, taxis, or drop-off.
This year, the airport operator Daa reports that the central security screening areas have been efficiently processing 92% of passengers in less than 20 minutes. Kevin Cullinane, Daa’s Group Head of Communications, commented: “We are delighted to have returned to our normal travel advice after the pandemic and to be able to provide improved service standards across both terminals. All the crew at Dublin Airport wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter weekend.
Shannon Airport is also set for a busy Easter, with 73,000 passengers expected to fly in and out over the five-day holiday. This is a 26% increase compared to last year, and 20% more than in 2019. To accommodate the extra numbers, the airport has launched its summer schedule, offering 33 flights to 11 countries across the EU, UK, and USA.
